Hey everyone! And by everyone, I mean myself… mostly… hehe.
I'm setting up this blog to use as a personal motivator for myself for staying active, staying creative, and doing so on a schedule and in a timely manner. It's actually a little experiment my friend and I are trying to do, to each create a blog of some sort to better our work ethic in a strategic way. You know… "work smarter, not harder". And to me that means staying active, keeping a creative spirit, maintaining a schedule, setting deadlines (and keeping them), and learning when to say no (usually in terms of being a perfectionist, and dwelling too long on a specific detail).
The basic premise of this blog is that I'll be posting something
every day. One post for each day, where I take 10-15 min. out of my schedule to work on something creative. This could be sketching, 3d modeling, painting, animating, editing, music, whatever. Just something creative, while maintaing a "strict, yet fun" attitude. It's loose-ended enough to keep my ideas fresh and free, but strict enough to learn valuable skills in time-managment, setting deadlines, and when to say no. And with any luck, I'll be able to apply these skills in real-time to my actual real-world projects.
My post for today? I wanted to start simple, so here's a 10-15 min. session of sketching cartoon hands as I see them in my head (i.e. without reference from any animated films or shows). FYI: I'm not that great at drawing hands (but would love to be better!), so I figured this would be a nice place to start. Sketched in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet.

And that's pretty much it! Most of the future posts will be a lot shorter than this one since I won't have to explain as much.
Anyway, that's all for now. Should be back tomorrow with another post.
